SCS Teacher Orientation
Attention: All Persons who work with Youth and Children at SMLC
Sunday, August 25, 10:45am is our annual SCS teacher orientation. This year, we are coupling that orientation along with our mandatory Safety Training (for all persons who work with youth and children, which was postponed from last February). We will meet in the Library immediately following the worship service. Refreshments will be served. Look forward to seeing you there; for more info, contact Bill Lawrence.
Confirmation Retreat for 7th & 8th Graders
Saturday, Sept. 7th
- 8:30am & 11am Worship Service: Blessing of the Backpackers
All children are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church; but even those without backpacks, the children will come forward for a blessing during worship. - 9:45am Sunday School: For 3 yrs. old through 8th Grade
Three-years old Class: This coming program year we have enough students to hold a 3-year old class in Room 106 on the first floor of the education wing. All children who turn 3 years by October are invited. However, if your child turns age 3 a bit later and you are comfortable with them attending, please give it a try. You might even want to stay and observe with the new teachers, Helen Emrick and Kris Butler.
Music instruction: Three-year olds through 6th grade students will continue with cantor, David Harp and Leader of Music with Youth and Children, Heather Caporaso. We’re looking forward to an exciting Sunday Church School year.
Sunday School Registration for and Contact Forms
A Registration Form (a one-time form per new family) and an Annual Contact Form (one per child; a new form needs to be filled out each year so we have the most current information relative to every child). Please complete and return to the church office.
- Registration form – to be completed only once unless contact info changes
- Annual contact form – to be completed each year
Did you know that the ELCA is celebrating Its 25th anniversary?
Yes it is. And, as part of that national celebration, Saint Matthew Sunday school students will be asked to bring non-perishable food (cans, boxes, etc.) for our food pantries on Rally Day. -Bill Lawrence
Lorraine is stepping down as chair of the Youth & Family Ministry, a position she has held since June 2010. She has been a gracious leader, responsible, dependable, experienced, gifted at getting to the heart of the matter, and yet willing to do whatever little task was needed-from bulletin boards to Kindergarten gift bags to receptions. Thank you Lorraine, and we give thanks to God for you! -Pastor Ingrid Wengert
