What’s New?

Children’s Pollinator Garden Expansion

The newly expanded Children’s Pollinator Garden is growing in nicely; please stop by to check it out! While we appreciate all of the watering that God has been providing in the form of rain, we are also grateful for our team of volunteers who are helping water and tend to the garden. This year the garden has been certified as wildlife habitat through the National Wildlife Federation, meaning that it is recognized as an important source of food, water, cover, and place to raise young for bees, birds, butterflies and other neighborhood wildlife. Many thanks to the Property Committee for installing the sign.

What’s New in the Grove?

Marna Andrew and Dave Rulon planted a shell bark hickory tree in the Grove from the Arbor Day Celebration. Stay tuned for a possible Tree Blessing by Pastor Alexis.

We Need More Hands & Knees in The Garden

If you can devote an hour a week or help twice a month, we need weeders and maintenance gardeners to add to the team during the growing season.

If interested, please contact Marna Andrew.

We will be welcoming new members on Sunday, June 9, 9:30AM followed by a Brunch Reception. Please sign up to bring your favorite brunch specialty. For more info, contact Pam Bowen. For those who wish to join St. Matthew, please contact Pastor Alexis.

New Roof & Capital Projects

Capital projects are getting underway, beginning with the new shingles for the Sanctuary Roof. The Property team is working on the Sanctuary lighting, alarm panel and rear entrance projects. Facilities Planning is developing the plans for additional accessibility projects to be included in our planned capital appeal.

Lutheran Crossings Sales

Our ongoing sales to benefit the residents of Lutheran Crossings continue to be a steady source of funds for the Auxiliary. St Matthew plays a major part in this fundraising. Dave Frech, Jan Miller, Dr. Elise Korman and I represent St Matthew at monthly meetings held in the Social Hall at St Matthew. I believe our congregation sends the largest group of volunteers to the meetings. Dave runs the monthly Hoagie Sale, and assists me with the sale of donated items. Most of these items come from our congregation.

Please continue to think of this ministry when you are considering donating goods. We take small household items; however, our biggest sellers are earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Our customers are always looking for new items.
