Ministry Night
Sept 11th 7:00pm

The September Ministry Night will be held on Sept. 11 at 7:00 via Zoom. All ministry teams are invited to have their meetings that evening. Groups all meet together for an opening devotion and announcements, and then divide into breakout rooms for their individual meetings. Groups that regularly meet during Ministry Night are Fellowship and Christian Care (FCC); Christian Learning and Formation (CLF), Green Team, and Worship team.


Annual Saint Matthew Day Picnic in the Grove
Sept 17th

The signup sheets are for what you would like to have grilled: hamburger, cheeseburger, veggie burger or hotdogs. And what you would like to bring, a side dish or a dessert. 

We are also looking for some help with:  Shopping, grilling, setting up, helping with food and drinks, and cleanup.


Leading Faithful Innovation
Sept 18th 7:00pm

Our congregational council will be reading the book Leading Faithful Innovation by Dwight Zscheile, Michael Binder, and Tessa Pinkstaff. Each month the council devotion time will focus on the ideas in a chapter of the book, beginning with chapter 1 this month. All congregation members are invited to read the book as well to follow along with the conversations being held at the council meetings. In addition, council meetings are open to the congregation. Council meetings are at 7:00 on the third Monday each month; once per quarter the meeting will be in-person with other meetings on Zoom. If you would like to attend, even if only the first 20 minutes for the book discussion, please contact the church office or council president for the Zoom link.


Book Discussion
Sept 19th 7:00pm

Join author Jamie Bruesehoff for an evening of conversation, connection, and resources in celebration of the launch of her new book, Raising Kids beyond the Binary: Celebrating God’s Transgender and Gender-Diverse Children. The book reading with be held at the Cherry Hill Public Library, 1100 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill. Jamie will be joined by Rebekah Bruesehoff, author and transgender teen advo- cate; and Dr. Linda Hawkins, co- director at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic. The event is sponsored by Inwood Books; PFLAG Collingswood; St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Cherry Hill; Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Haddonfield; Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill; and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Marlton.


Cambridge Worship
Sept 24th 1:00pm

St. Matthew will be organizing a monthly worship service at Cambridge Enhanced Senior Living, starting this month. The worship will generally be on the 4th Sunday of the month at 1 p.m. It will be a spoken service, following the bulletin from the 8:30 service. Please speak with Pr. Eric if you would be willing to help with this service. The most important thing is being willing to greet the residents who attend. Roles such as reader and communion assistant are also available. The first service will be Sept. 24.


Confirmation Class
Oct 1st 4:00pm

Confirmation classes this year will be held on select Sunday afternoons from 4 – 6 p.m. The first class session will be Oct. 1. Classes are open to youth beginning in grade 6. Parents are urged to attend with their children. If you have not yet received the full schedule, please contact Pastor Eric to get on the mailing list for more details.


Older Wiser Lutheran Seniors: Stories Of The Church
Oct 5th Noon

Come October 5, 2023 at noontime in the Library to gather together, eat lunch, and hear church members, Sandy Meany and Dave Stewart, share their memories of the early years of our congregation. Their parents were among the founders of Saint Matthew Lutheran Church. Bring your favorite sandwich or salad, and hostesses will provide delicious desserts, iced tea and water, as well as, brewed coffee.

Come! It will be fun to visit with one another after a summer break and fascinating to hear about those early days in the life of our congregation

Church Family Advent Craft Night and Dinner

There will be crafts for all ages—some more challenging than others

Time: TBD but will include a meal and singing of some of our favorite Christmas songs


Walnut Street Theater Cabaret
Jan 13th

Three of the stars of Walnut Street theater will be performing for us. Wine and hors d’oeuvres provided by the theater. (This is a gift to us from one of our members. And this is an adult only event.)


Trip to Philadelphia Museum of Art
Feb 4th

We will be heading to the Philadelphia Museum of Art with Peter Jensen to see a very special exhibit titled: “Of God and Country.” American Art from the Jill and Sheldon Bonotz Collection. The first Sunday of the month is pay as you wish day.


Sunday Fellowship Nibble and Nosh

We have had a wonderful group of volunteers to provide treats on Sunday mornings before and after service. We are always looking for more help. If you are willing to bring in goodies, store bought or homemade, please reach out to Karen Widin.

Tea & Talk
