The following update is from Emma Wagner, Manager of Congregational Engagement from Lutheran World Relief on Ukrainian World Relief efforts.

The Polish/Ukrainian border brossing at Medyka. Millions of refugees have crossed into Poland fleeing the Russian invasion. Refugees were met with hot food, donated clothing, bus rides to the train station, and other information about where to go and what to do next.

How your love is reaching our neighbors in Ukraine.

From the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, the generosity of congregations across the country has been overwhelming. You saw our Ukrainian neighbors fleeing their homeland, children and belongings in tow, and you welcomed them with quilts and kits. You saw refugees separated from loved ones, in strange new countries, and you provided them with emergency supplies and support to rebuild their lives after destruction. Thank you for your compassion, prayers and incredible generosity.

I have three important resources to share with you:

  1. Our latest situation report provides details about how your love is reaching our neighbors in Ukraine.
  2.  Our SPECIAL EDITION congregational newsletter shares updates, stories and our deep gratitude.
  3. We’ve created a free Bible study for you to use this summer or fall. Seeing our Neighbors is a three-week study based on Matthew 25:31-46. Using Scripture, images, the practice of Visio Divina and prayer, you are invited to see how God is calling God’s people to reach out in love to neighbors across the street and across the globe.

Thank you for being a congregation that extends God’s love when and where it’s needed most.
