November 7 11am ~ Videos + Discussions

The Anti-racism/Diversity/Equity/Inclusion group will show a couple of short videos and have a discussion time for each. The selected videos are intended to help focus attention on certain aspects of the difficult issues of racism and D/E/I and to give a framework for having a productive dialog. We’ll watch together and then discuss a couple short videos.

The stated purpose of the Special Congregation Meeting will be: To renew, for a period of twelve (12) months, the resolution approved by the Congregation at the Special Congregational Meeting on March 8, 2020, which approved the sale of: (a) land owned by SMLC known as Block 4307, Lot 32 on the current Moorestown Township tax map; and (b) SMLC’s interest in the “Church Apartment” as defined in the Lease between SMLC and Herman Hassinger dated September 11, 1981, under terms and conditions deemed reasonable and in the best interests of SMLC

Join us for a fun family oriented concert with Matt. He will be singing some of his own songs, but some oldies and goodies and a couple of hymns. Sing-alongs and special songs for the kid in all of us. The weekly eblast will give you more info about Matt. He is a friend of Pastors Eric & Wendolyn.

New Jersey Farmers Against Hunger Annual Thanksgiving Packing Event

Every year, Farmers Against Hunger volunteers come together to pack upwards of 3,000 bags of mixed fall produce for a special Thanksgiving distribution. The bags are delivered to families in need across NJ just in time for the holiday.

November 21 11am ~ Quilts and the Underground Railroad 

Did quilts hold codes to the Underground Railroad? Two historians say African American slaves may have used a quilt code to navigate the Underground Railroad, but others say differently. Would you be able to find your way to the North and freedom following quilt patterns? Join Pastor Peggy as we discuss the use or not of such patterns as “Wagon Wheels,” “Tumbling Blocks,” and Bear’s Paw” to direct slaves to freedom. For more info, see pg. 5 of the newsletter.

Epiphany Celebration (In-person & Zoom)

The 12 days of Christmas often get lost in the luster of Christmas celebrations. We have plans to collect special items for the 12 days of Christmas along with a crazy sing-along and some storytelling and cake eating…the collected items will be shared with our Food Pantry. Our goal is to gather in the Fellowship Hall to make crafts and have fun together. This is for all ages!!!
