Tour Philly’s African American Museum on April 2nd

Join other Lutherans from across New Jersey at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday April 2 as we visit the African American Museum. We’ll learn about the vibrant black communities of Philadelphia at the turn of the 19th century, and the Jehu Jones Mission (about 1:15 p.m.).

After a short walk from the museum, we’ll have a guided tour of the Mask & Wig Club building, originally built by the Rev. Jehu Jones as the first African American Lutheran Church in the United States. This trip has been organized by the NJ Synod, ELCA, which is providing a round-trip bus option; alternatively, you may travel on your own. Since the two bus pickup locations are Hamilton Square, NJ, or Summit, NJ, SMLC will be organizing a car-pool from Moorestown into Philadelphia. If traveling on your own you’ll still need to sign up for your ticket.

Cost: $9 for the museum ticket only. $25 for a round trip bus and museum ticket. Lunch is on your own.

Interested in the car-pool from SMLC? Please contact Max Frable to let him know whether you need a ride or– if driving — how many passengers you can take.
