THANKSGIVING BASKETS FOR BRIDGE OF PEACE

As in years past, St. Matthew has promised to provide Thanksgiving meals for 75 families at Bridge of Peace. So far, only 35 Thanksgiving Baskets have been taken by St. Matthew families—so there is lots of opportunity to pick up and fill yours. In addition, we need (75) $20.00 Walmart gift cards.

Members of the congregation will be able to donate toward the purchase of  (75) $20 Walmart gift cards or fill a shopping bag with Thanksgiving “fixins”.  In order to maintain social distancing during the food pick-up, Pastor Giselle has asked that we  provide gift cards for the turkeys and pies rather than provide the actual food. In the spirit of our annual Giving Tree, we are going to have a Giving Turkey!  We will provide 75 re-usable shopping bags with a shopping list of Thanksgiving “fixins” for each family to fill.   We will also provide little paper turkeys for people to “fill” with a gift card which will be enclosed in the shopping bags.

The shopping list of “fixins” is:

  • Box of turkey stuffing mix
  • Box of mashed potato mix
  • Large can of sweet potatoes
  • One can of peas
  • One can of corn
  • 1lb. bag/box of rice
  • One can of cranberry sauce
  • Turkey Gravy – jar or dry mix
  • Dinner mints

The shopping bags and food lists will be available for PICK-UP/DROP-OFF, along with a sign-up sheet (see bench in foyer):

  • Sundays, 9-11AM (10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15) OR
  • Tues-Wed-Thurs, 9-Noon (Oct. 27, 28, 29; Nov. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19)

If these times don’t work for you, please contact Deacon Bill.

All filled shopping bags and Walmart cards must be returned to church by Nov. 19. Please contact Rene Cherson if you want to help or if you have any questions.

Bridge of Peace’s Food Pantry has remained open weekly during COVID. Over 100 people are served each week. St. Matthew is not collecting food for BoP pantry, however, funds are very much needed. Donations payable to St Matthew with BoP food pantry in memo.
