Social Ministry February 2022

Family Promise of Burlington County – The Philadelphia Orchestra has featured Family Promise of Burlington County on its recent “Our City, Your Orchestra” program. The spotlight is divided into two parts interspersed with performances by current and former members of the orchestra at the Moorestown Community House.

Hear first-hand stories of one family that faced homelessness after a storm destroyed their home and the help they received from Family Promise. “There were moments where I didn’t know where to turn for help or kept getting told no,” said Andrea. “Family Promise was the only group that was able to help me through the entire process.”

Family Promise is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, meals and assistance to families facing homelessness in Burlington County. The program provides help, hope, and a safe haven while families seek affordable housing options. To learn more about how the organization works to address housing insecurity in the region, visit www.fpburlco.org.

The Our City, Your Orchestra program is supported in part by the William Penn Foundation with additional support provided through the PNC Arts Alive initiative, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Presser Foundation.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

32pints!! We exceeded our target and collected 32 pints of blood collected at our blood drive in January. Thank you to all who served and shared information to make this drive a success, especially at a time when the Red Cross is experiencing the worst blood shortage in more than a decade.

Approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the United States with each transfusion needing approximately three units. The dangerously low supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants. This is why your donations are greatly appreciated.
