New Schedule Reminders
As we begin the new Sunday morning schedule on Sept. 18, a few reminders about the worship services.
- The 10:15 service will have a full liturgy, following a similar pattern to the worship services we have been having at 9:30. There are no Covid-related restrictions at this worship service, and the service will be streamed.
- The 8:30 service will require masks and social distancing. The service will be fully spoken, with no music during the service, and it will be limited to 30 minutes. Weather-permitting, the service will be held in the new outdoor worship space the first several weeks, until the weather turns too cold. The service will not be streamed. It will include scripture reading, children’s time, sermon, and communion.
- Christian Formation time will be held between the services, from 9:15-10:00. Sunday School for up to grade 6 will be held in the Fellowship Hall. The Adult Forum will be held in the library.
- Food for fellowship time will be available starting at 9:00 until after the later service. Please find a time to chat and enjoy!
September 18, 2022: Vocal Choir will rehearse on Sunday mornings
The Adult Vocal Choir will resume rehearsals on Sunday, September 18 at 9:00 AM in the choir room. That’s right, rehearsals will now be on Sunday mornings! The Vocal Choir is open to all who have a desire to sing. Please consider joining us and sharing your voice.
September 18, 2022: Saint Matthew Day Picnic
This will be the first day of Sunday School and first Sunday with our new schedule of two services. Three eagle scout projects will be dedicated.
Saint Matthew Day will culminate with an all-church picnic. A cookout with lots of homemade side dishes and hopefully an ice cream truck since the theme of Sunday School is “Food Truck Party.” There will be yard games, both old fashioned and new. Let us know if you have any favorite games you would like to have us run. Lots of fun for all!
We will need volunteers so please chat with Peggy if you can help.
Blessing of the Backpackers
Blessing of the Backpackers will be held during worship on Sunday, Sept. 18. It will be done as the Children’s Time during the worship at both services. Children are invited to have their school backpacks or book bags with them for worship, whether they are attending in-person or virtually, for the time of blessing.
Installation of Council and Teachers
During worship on Sept. 18, council members and officers, along with all Sunday School teachers, will be installed into their roles for this coming year. The installation will be held at both services.
Adult Forum
The Adult Forum will be held in the library from 9:15-10:00 each week, beginning on Sept. 25.
On September 25, the Adult Forum will be a time to consider options for use of the proceeds of the sale of the Hassenger property. Some of the latest details on the proposed accessible bathroom expansion will be shared. This is also an opportunity to share other ideas and suggestions for how the money could be best used to further the mission of the congregation. All ideas are welcome to be shared at this forum. This is not a congregational meeting and no vote will be taken on this date, but it is anticipated that a congregational meeting will be held on this topic later in the fall, and the discussion from this forum will be taken into consideration in the formal meeting.
Online Wednesday Evening Learning Time
Mark your calendars for Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:30. This year we will have a fully online education time each week, starting in October. A variety of subjects are being planned for this year. In October, Pastor Eric will be leading a “Pastor’s Class.” This is a good new members class or a refresher for everyone. Over 4 weeks, he will cover some of the core aspects of the life and faith of the congregation. The first class will be October 5.
