As is (was) plain to the eye our storm damage (13 trees) have been removed. Our contractor, Hyperion Company, was able to complete the work just before our re-opening. We had an initial estimate of $6500 but in our final job walk through we decided to take out an additional damaged tree close to the parking lot. The job was completed for $7,000.
We completed the monthly check of the hallway lights and all were in operating order. The fire exit lights were another story as two of the battery backups failed the one hour test. We will be replacing the fixtures. Thanks to Dick Graybill for completing the one hour test.
Pastor and family will be fully moved into their new home this week. The rented furniture will be picked up by the vendor on October 28th. We will have a crew ready to bring plates and silverware back to our kitchen shortly thereafter.
The three year chemical cleaning of the new furnaces was completed Oct. 14th. It is expensive ($1,739.99) but only occurs tri-annually. We will talk with the technician about the accumulated mineral deposits to see if we can safely stretch the service interval without voiding the warranty.
Our mower saga continues. As noted last month, we had yet another service done. Upon its completion this time a mower blade was bent upon hitting a root. Thanks to Steve Cathcart for replacing the blade.
Covid-19 continues to limit our efficiency. We are working on small projects as individuals or small groups.
Our budget was submitted timely and we await the red pen of the Finance Committee. Even with an increase as submitted, some items such as soffit painting on the north side of the old sanctuary will have to be put off to the future.
