President’s Message May 2021

Greetings All:

Later this month, we will be in the season of Pentecost and St. Matthew is working as if the Holy Spirit has already come.

  • We returned to in-person worship in the sanctuary. Reservations are needed, as are masks.
  • Holy Week was a whirlwind of activity, including Confirmation held outdoors, an Easter Egg Hunt, and we heard a small group of singers (with masks) on Easter morning.
  • We had three baptisms: Ernest Covington, Brielle Covington, and Cameron Clayton.

Social Ministry has been particularly active with Green Team activities, the Anti-Racism Task Force and has conducted the Freed in Christ training program. Stephen Ministry also completed a training program and is reinvigorated. Some members of the Adult Choir are looking forward to safely gracing our worship once again.

One challenge coming up is Bill Lawrence leaving the parish clergy. He is now working half-time and we are coming to grips with the many things he makes go so smoothly. If you are asked to help with one of them, please give it prayerful consideration.

Looking forward to Pentecost,
John O’Meara, President.
