PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:18-19

Fellow St. Matthew Members,

St. Matthew is entering into a new season. We are reopening, looking forward to things becoming, well, more like they were. This past Sunday, July 12, we distributed communion at the rail in our sanctuary. The Reopening Task Force is recommending to Council that our guidelines be relaxed for almost all activities, including serving beverages and food at our events so our Older Wiser Lutheran Seniors (OWLS) can start planning their fall bar-b-que! For the fall, Melissa Feeney and the Christian Learning & Formation ministry are planning Sunday School and we plan to conform to Moorestown Schools’ plans for in-person learning.

We also have changes at Council. I reached my term limit as your President. This means we have almost all new Council officers, elected at our June Council meeting. Tom Campbell is stepping up and is the President of St. Matthew going forward. Denise Cole is our Vice President, Tom Cassel is our Treasurer, and I am the Secretary. Please congratulate and encourage all of our officers in their new roles.

The Social Ministry, Stewardship Ministry and Evangelism Ministry are all reorganizing now to be ready for fall. Everyone at St. Matthew has talents and experience. There is probably an opportunity for you to become more involved. Call the office or contact anyone active in these ministries if you wish to become more involved. Please prayerfully consider becoming involved if someone reaches out to you with an opportunity!

It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Council President. It has definitely been a bit humbling, but mainly it has been very, very rewarding. I very much look forward to working with Tom Campbell as he and Pastor Eric leads us into a new program year in September and then a new church year at Advent. All my best for the summer.
