Oktoberfest is Coming! Want to Help?

Authentic Oktoberfest food will be provided by Rieker’s Prime Meats. Rieker’s store in N.E. Philadelphia is well known for their delicious foods which are catered efficiently. Their German foods have been a success here for years. A variety of bottled German beers will be featured, as well as, Riesling wine, and sodas. Child-sitting will be provided downstairs by Shirley Schmidt who watches over children each Sunday during worship services.

What needs to be done?
A Steering Committee composed of Brandie Plasket, the Graybills, and the Kuhns will organize the evening. Helpers are needed to:

  • Decorate the hall and partially dress the tables Friday morning at 9:30AM
  • Finish the tables Saturday afternoon at 1:30PM (when meeting has disbanded)
  • Pick up the food from Rieker’s store in Philly on Saturday at 2:00PM
  • Help warm the catered food in slow ovens and sauté/warm some food on the stove at 4:00 and 5:00PM
  • Set up the CD of German music and press Start
  • Serve the heated food from warming trays
  • Cut and serve the warmed strudels
  • Carry bottles of beer and wine from Teen Den refrigerator and keep cold in coolers with ice in Fellowship Hall
  • Carry empty bottles to recycling area in basement
  • Un-decorate the Hall, sweep, and set up for Sunday School
