Melissa May began serving Saint Matthew in mid-September. The purpose of her role is “to help the congregation achieve its goal of more intentionally connecting families and their children to the church, so that their faith is strengthened through participation in worship, education, serving, and fellowship.”
More about Melissa: She is delighted to begin serving on staff at St. Matthew as the Leader of Family Ministry. She grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, attended Susquehanna University as a creative writing major, and went to seminary at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, from which she earned a Master of Divinity degree. She is a candidate to become a diaconal minister, which is a lay roster similar to an associate in ministry. She’s had opportunities to serve with organizations and projects in places like Baltimore, England, Scotland, and Tanzania, so you can tell that she loves to travel! She looks forward to equipping and empowering families, children, youth, young adults, and our fantastic volunteers for effective faith formation, discipleship practices, and Christian service!
