Bibles for children

Third Grade Bibles

Bibles will be presented to our third graders in worship on June 5. All third graders and their families should please plan to attend worship that week, or if you prefer to worship virtually to let Pastor Eric know that so that he can arrange to get the Bible to you.

Waterways

Water Ways Project

We are also excited to have rescheduled our special guest speaker Meg Lemieur from the Water Ways Project for adult education time on Sunday, June 5.  

Meg will be leading us in a workshop exploring the Water Ways series of highly detailed illustrations, telling the story of water and the impacts of the natural gas industry on people, communities and native species in the Mid-Atlantic region. The NJ Diakonia Steering Committee

The NJ Diakonia Steering Committee would like to invite you to our Annual Gathering to be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 9:30-3:30 p.m.at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 300 Union Ave., Somerville.

The program is entitled Experience the Small Catechism in a New Way: Why the Catechism Still Matters. The guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Miles Hopgood will present Imagination and the Law: Expanding the Moral Landscape in Luther’s Small Catechism.

Participants can choose two workshops to attend: Apostle’s Creed, Lord’s Prayer, or Baptism. The $35 registration fee includes lunch and a copy of the text by heart: Conversations with Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. For more information or to register, please email Ellen.Lindemann@raritanval.edu

 

Lunch

Older Wiser Lutheran Seniors

All church members site and older are invited to come to the Library for a June OWLS Lunch at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 9th. Lunch will be catered by Zalle’s Catering, which will be providing a variety of sandwiches and salads. OWLS hostesses will bake  delicious cakes and provide iced tea and hot drinks.

The Phone Tree Captains will be calling with more details. Please sign up on forms located on the bulletin board so that we may judge food amounts. Come and gather before our summer break. See you then.

Congregational Meeting – June 12

Mark your calendars for the annual Congregational Meeting. It will be held on June 12 at 11:00 a.m., and will be held as a hybrid meeting.

Application packages for the Wurffel Fund College Loans/Scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year are available. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Eric. Applications with pastor recommendations are due back no later than July 1st.
