 Stephen Ministry

Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.”

Matthew 7:7

There was a need to grow the Stephen Ministry when the number of ministers decreased but the needs of the congregation remained. There were more care receivers then Stephen Ministers available, so Stephen Leaders took on care giving relationships as well.

Ask: Articles were placed in the Sunday bulletins, sessions on the book Christian Caregiving – A way of Life were presented to the adult forum and temple talks shared with the congregation.

Search: Applications for new Stephen ministers were made available and candidates responded. Interviews were conducted and references called.

Knock: After all the efforts made within St Matthews three amazing candidates were found. Three in a class is do-able but more would be better. Neighboring congregations with Stephen Ministry programs were contacted and a fourth trainee from the Methodist church in Moorestown will be joining in the ministry training.

Now the work begins, arrangements for the time and location have been decided, teachers for the program are preparing the lessons and schedules for classes are being planned.

With Joyful anticipation, a new class of Stephen Ministers will begin on January 30th. All praise to the one from whom all blessings flow!
