Exciting News! A Look Inside Our New Building Addition

As we prepare to open the long-anticipated building addition, there are a number of features worth highlighting.

Toilet Rooms

  • They are furnished the same (with a single toilet and lavatory–no stalls) so they both may be used by anyone.
  • They are Fully Accessible, Family-friendly and Companion-capable.
  • You will find all the standard grab-bars and mobility-assistant features you’re used to seeing in ADA restrooms.
  • There is ample space for a walker, electric wheelchair or scooter, AND a companion for anyone (of any age!) that could use an extra hand.

Child-friendly accessories, including a couple you may not have seen before:

  • Diaper Changing Table (been there, done that)
  • Toddler Chair (To give adult care-givers a well-deserved break so they can “take care of business”)
  • Potty-training Toilet Seat: hidden in the lid of the “normal” sized toilet seat, is an insert for children (with splash-guard!) (How cool is this?!?)
A stainless steel and gray Elkay water fountain and bottle filling station mounted on a wall. The unit has a taller section on the left with a bottle filler and a basin, and a shorter, more accessible drinking fountain on the right. The floor below is covered with protective paper.

Drinking Fountains

  • Standard High & Lo pair for ADA compliance
  • Added a Bottle Filler to better accommodate modern use (…because it’ll get used more often than the traditional ‘bubbler’)

Using these items should be self-explanatory, but we want everyone to be aware of the effort to make these new “Comfort Stations” as universal as possible. If you know of other improvements that would make these rooms even more accommodating, please let us know! (We’ve already incorporated some of your suggestions.)
