We want to commend Ella Peterson, high school senior and Council member at St. Matthew on her involvement in leading a group of Moorestown High School Students in their well-organized walk out on March 14th. Compliments were voiced by the Superintendent of Moorestown schools at our Ministerium (town clergy) meeting on that day. The peaceful demonstration focused around the right of the students to be educated in a violence free school. They spoke of caring for each other, speaking up if a fellow student expresses signs of distress, and above all keeping our schools free from gun violence. Hundreds of students walked out of school on the cold Wednesday morning along with the administration and many teachers in a respectful, if somber tone. The voluntary walk out began and ended by remembering all the students and staff that have died as a result of gun violence around the country.
