Congregational Meeting Building Construction Decision

At the special Congregational Meeting on May 5, the congregation approved two recommendations from the Congregational Council:

  • Council Recommendation #1: That the congregation accept the facilities planning sub-committee’s recommendation for accepting General Contractor #2’s proposal for the construction of an addition on the north side of the building.

Steve Cathcart moved to accept council recommendation #1. Motion Seconded. Motion carried. Yeas 50, Nays 0, Abstentions 2
  • Council Recommendation #2: The congregation empowers the Congregational Council to execute a Loan Agreement with the ELCA Mission Investment Fund to borrow up to $400,000 or such other amount that council may approve, under terms and conditions approved by Council per Finance Committee recommendation. Such terms and conditions may include encumbering Church assets and a recorded lien on Church property. The Council is also empowered to sign the Contractor Agreement, pending its approval of a Project Financing Plan, which may include a 5-year Capital Appeal.

Steve Cathcart moved to accept council recommendation #2. Motion Seconded. Motion carried. Yeas 52, Nays 1, Abstentions 3

This means the congregation is moving forward with this project. A successful capital campaign is still needed. Look for more information about that campaign soon. In the meantime, the planning teams involved are working to finalize details so that everything is ready to start moving as soon as is reasonably possible. Many thanks to all who have worked to get the project to this point.
