CONGREGATIONAL ACTIVITY TIME

All Activity Time events will be in the library this month at 11AM, unless otherwise noted:

Dec. 5 – Small Group Week

  • Adult Forum: What is Theology, Anyway?

Most people are fairly comfortable with what it means to have a bible study, to take part in a service event, or to participate in worship. Yet they find it much harder to say what “theology” is and why it might matter in their life. Pastor Eric will talk about what theology actually is by looking at some common objections to the idea of “theology.” He will also point to how every person is already engaged in theology, and how the theology of the church can help us do it more effectively.

  • Youth Group: All youth grades 6-12 and parents are invited for an organizing meeting of our youth ministry for this year. Meet in Shockey Lounge.
  • Children’s Music Activity: Cantor Dave will have time with the chimes for children in grades 4-6. Meet in the choir room.

Dec. 12 – What Is Hybrid Church?

Perhaps you have heard the words “hybrid church” being used. What do those words mean, and what difference do they make for St. Matthew? A small work group from the congregation has met a few times to try to define the term and what possibilities it presents to our congregation. They will share what they have learned on Dec. 12.

Dec. 19 – Intergenerational Activity “A Greening Time”

Join us as we begin to prepare our sanctuary for Christmas Eve. We’ll work and sing together as we decorate and hear the choir inspire us with music of the season. An angel craft for the kids will add to the festivities of the season.

Dec. 26 & Jan. 2 – No Activity

Jan. 9 – Epiphany Celebration

Stay tuned for details as we celebrate Epiphany this day. As we get to January, look for updates on the Activity Time plans!
