Christian Learning & Formation April Update

We want to share how much fun we have been having in Sunday School. Check out our pictures from March 6, when our Chefs created puppets to share the story of Jesus providing fish for the disciples!

On March 19th, we took some time to make Easter cards for Saint Matthew homebound. Though we couldn’t include pictures due to the Messenger deadline, we hope that we were able to remind those that can’t join us in worship that we are thinking of them and love them!

With the Spring season upon us, CLF is working hard to plan the rest of our Sunday School Year.

Please note the schedule for April:

  • There will be no Sunday School hour on 04/02, due to the Easter Breakfast.
  • There will be no Sunday School hour on 04/09, due to the Easter holiday.
  • On 04/16, we will be making “Bug Vacuums” for the Green Team Event on 04/23. Going to be fun!
  • There will be no Sunday School hour on 04/23. Instead we ask that Sunday School Families join the Green Team for an Earth Day Celebration after the second worship service! After a rededication of the pollinator garden, families will take a nature hike down to the Teaberry Run stream that runs behind Saint Matthew.  The activities will include examining the plant life that lives along the stream, as well as an exploration of the insect life along the stream, and a trash clean-up. Please wear clothes and shoes that you wont mind getting a “little messy”.

Summer Schedule

Looking onto to the summer months, VBS survey responses from families have indicated that there is little demand for a VBS program this year. Instead families thought it would be fun to plan normal summer activities we all love and enjoy- picnics after worship, gatherings at parks and/or by a pool, etc. So be on the lookout for that information! It is our goal to partner with a local church for VBS in 2024.

Adult Forum Coordinator

On a final note, CLF is still looking for someone to help Pastor Eric coordinate Adult Forum. This might sound like an intimidating “job”; but we are just looking for someone to schedule speakers/activities, and introduce topics. Please consider donating a small amount of your time to such an important part of our Church life.

Acolytes

Beginning in Lent, we were so pleased that, once again, we were able to have an acolyte serve at each service.  Two of the acolytes, Adriana and Talia Uhlig, have prior experience and nine are newly trained. Pastor held sessions to prepare Nate and Kate Frable, Annie McFarland, Ben, Grace and Brien Campbell, Olivia Lestini, David Denko and Jillian Cole.

We are excited to have this great group of kids who are ready and willing to serve and would welcome anyone else who would like to participate.  Please contact Chris Cassel with any questions.

God Bless you and your Family during the Easter season,

Melissa Feeney, CLF Chairperson
