CHRISTIAN LEARNING & FORMATION

How painful it is for us in the CLF Ministry to report that Sunday School and Youth Group will not resume this year. We want to thank all the SS teachers who took the time this year to plan and prepare lessons and activities. We especially want to thank those retiring: Barry and Kathy Grahn, Lauren Every-Clayton, and Denise Cole. Thank you for your years (and years for some of you) of dedication to the Saint Matthew Sunday School program. We want to thank Dave Harp, Jana Frable and Pat Hall for facilitating worship through music for our children. We want to thank all the high school aides that gave up their Sunday mornings to serve; and most importantly, we want to thank our parents and children, who made Sunday School part of their routines. It is a joy and a blessing to work with your children.

Parent and Green Team Coordinator, Brian Lestini shared the following regarding SS teachers Kris B. and

Meghan C: “Kris and Meghan had the great idea to have “virtual” Sunday school over Zoom meeting, which they have been doing with the pre-K/K kids over the past 3 weeks. Please share these pictures with the congregation to showcase how the teachers have been innovative and creative in staying connected and sharing the word during these unusual times. Thank you, Kris and Meghan, for your efforts!” and Thank you, Brian for sharing!

We intend to resume normal Sunday School and Youth Group activities in September; in order to do so, we need SS teachers! We need 4-5 teachers. Please understand, you do not have to be a teacher or a theologian to be qualified. Curriculum and supplies are provided; each classroom will have at least one high school aide, and in some classrooms, another adult teacher. Pastor Peggy and Deacon Bill will provide support in any way they can; so please, consider dedicating one hour a Sunday to the Christian Education of our young people at Saint Mat-thew.

To those of you looking forward to summer, VBS is still on (as of the writing of this article)! Our VBS Day Camp is combining with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church to increase the fun for 20 campers. Crossroads will lead our VBS Day Camp at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Maple Shade for an awesome week of action-packed camp fun! Monday – Friday, from 9am – 3pm; July 20th -24th. Questions? please contact Lisa Merrill.

Finally, we want to thank the four members of the congregation who agreed to be mentors for this year’s Confirm-ands: Rene Cherson, Greta Hall, Doris Ross, and Karen Widin. Parents, confirmands, and mentors—stay tuned for upcoming information regarding Confirmation!
