September is here!
It is time to regroup and get ready to dive into another program year in the congregation, along with another school year. Hopefully the summer has given some chance to recharge and you are ready for all that comes with autumn. We have plenty going on in the congregation this month and the months to come. We look forward to the opening of the new accessibility addition; our annual picnic; resuming programs such as Sunday School, choir, Adult Forum, and the two worship service schedule; and a variety of other events.
What’s Happening at Church? Find Out Sept. 8
Sometimes it can feel like it is hard to keep up with what is happening within the congregation. With that in mind, on Sept. 8 we will hold “Back to Church Night.” Basically the idea is that much like at the beginning of the school year teachers have a “Back to School” night with parents to go over what they need to know for the coming year, our Back to Church Night will be a chance to share some of the big picture of what you need to know for being involved in the congregation in the following months: some key events and plans, updates on the physical changes to the building and procedures for communication, and other details worth knowing. There will be opportunities for me, other staff members, council, and ministry teams to share what their current projects and plans are.
In the five years that I have been here, we have held Ministry Night most months to have the ministry teams together to hear what is going on and then breaking out into individual team meetings. All of those meetings have been fully online. That has made it easier for some people to participate, but it has been a barrier for others. For some, that has made them feel like it is hard to keep track of what is happening in the congregation. Back to Church night will be hybrid – you can attend in-person in the library or join on Zoom. All are encouraged to come and hear what is going on, even if you have not been involved in any of the ministry meetings recently or are not inclined to do so at this time. This is the chance to get back in church and really have a sense of what is going on and how you might be part of our working of living out God’s love.
Back to Church Night: September 8th at 7pm
The staff and ministry groups will present plans for the coming year. All are welcome, whether or not you are part of a ministry team. It will be a hybrid meeting: in the library and via Zoom. Zoom link will be in our emails or contact the church office.
