The Congregational Ministry Meeting will be held on June 1 following the worship service. Please plan to attend.
The following amendments to the congregation’s constitution have been properly proposed by the Finance Committee for inclusion on the agenda of the congregational meeting scheduled for June 1, 2025:
- Deletion of the sentence “The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support beyond the operational budget of this congregation” which is in paragraph C5.05. of the Constitution in reference to the Memorial Fund; and
- Deletion of paragraph C5.05.04.c. of the congregation’s Bylaws which reads “Prohibited Distributions. The Fund assets shall not be expended for the congregation’s normal operating expenses or for its budgeted benevolences unless recommended for such use by the Congregation Council and approved by a two-thirds majority vote at a properly called Congregation Meeting, unless such use is specifically designated by a Donor or representative of a Donor’s estate.”
The Congregation Council has reviewed these proposals and recommends that they be adopted. The Council believes the changes are in the long-term best interest of the Congregation They are necessary for the Finance Committee’s long-term strategy, which includes substantially increasing the principal value of the Memorial Fund with a planned giving appeal while allowing distributions from the Fund to be used, in part, for budgeted operating expenses and benevolences of the church.
