I work in the operating room (OR) with a very skilled group of—not just nurses—but OR technicians, and others who take great care and pride in their work every day. Elective surgery has been postponed during the pandemic so the volume of work in the OR has decreased significantly whereas the need in other areas has increased significantly. Staff has been reas-signed due to this. One of this group of excellent OR staff was reassigned to the emergency room to help clean rooms due to the volume of patients they are seeing. I could tell, and I felt it also, that this was not the job she envisioned was best using her talents, but she knew it needed to be done and she has been doing it without complaint. I think of her daily.
