Accessibility and Expansion Project

Just as spring is moving forward with the blooming and blossoming of nature, so is St. Matthew’s Accessibility and Expansion Project to the Narthex.  Permits have been granted by the Moorestown Township and our dedicated group with the Facilities Committee is eager to get started.  On June 11th, at the annual Congregational meeting, Council will be presenting and recommending one of two options for vote.

Option #1: The first option will be to begin and go forward with the entire project at this time.  This option is contingent upon receiving a bid for the project at $400,000 or less.

Option #2: Should we not receive any bids at $400,000 or less, a recommendation will be made to proceed with starting phase one of the project, which entails re-routing and re-paving the existing driveway exit.  Should this option pass, it would allow for future construction or alternative uses of the existing area.

It should be noted that any motion that passes, construction will be contingent upon a financial package that will be assembled by the Finance Committee.  This would include using proceeds from the sale of the Hassinger property, a Mission Investment loan and a capital appeal campaign.

At the completion of the presentation, we will be asking the congregation to vote on one of the two previously stated options.  Which one is recommended depends on the construction bids received between now and the date of the congregational meeting. To say that this has been a long and arduous project, just to get to this point, would be a gross understatement.  Facilities and Council look forward to the presenting these two options on June 11th for consideration.
