Meatless Monday Potluck & Green Team Update

Harvest Season

Though subtle, the days surely become shorter, the nights cooler, and the earth more subdued. With fall comes many opportunities for fellowship, and sharing our faith through God’s Creation.

First a warm welcome to those who signed up during our fall membership drive, and thanks to the Green Team volunteers who staffed our membership drive table!”

STEM Annual Fall Festival

On October 7, Noon to 4 pm, we will be hosting a table at the Save the Environment of Moorestown (STEM) Annual Fall Open Space Festival at Strawbridge Lake. Come check it out and join in the festivities! Featured will be canoe/kayak rentals, Moorestown Children’s Color- ing Contest awards, the 2018 “Nature in Moorestown” winning photos, live music, and refreshments. Favorite activities will also include the Children’s Fishing Contest, environmental exhibitors and displays, kids’ activities and crafts, and live animals.

Adult Forum

At the October 14 Adult Forum, guest speaker, Dr. Hisham Moharram, will present “Living Our Values; an Individual and Community Responsibility.” Dr. Moharram is a scientist, devout Muslim, GreenFaith fellow and founder of Good Tree Farm, a community-owned, science-based, organic agribusiness to address issues of environmental and social justice. He will discuss how Good Tree Farm is a living example of how to live our faith values on the personal and collective or community level, with a discussion on the necessity of individual and community engagement with the critical issues of our times.

Meatless Monday Potluck

The second annual Meatless Monday Potluck will be held October 22, 6:30 PM. Reducing meat consumption for just one day a week has a multitude of benefits – for both personal health and the health of our planet. This year we are excited to partner with the Fellowship & Congregation Care Ministry, bringing together a night of fun, fellowship and delicious meat-free dishes. Check out the recipe for pumpkin pasta and spinach. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you are able to attend and help with this event.

NJ Farmers Against Hunger

Looking ahead, please save the date for our NJ Farmers Against Hunger Thanksgiving packing service event on November 11, 1-3 pm. We will be packing produce for local food banks, including our own Thanksgiving baskets.
