The Lunch Bunch is looking for volunteers to help make sandwiches to feed the area residents who frequent Cathedral Kitchen in Camden.
This is a perfect opportunity for students looking for community service hours or anyone seeking new opportunities to get involved with ministries in the church. The group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the old Teen Den (aka the basement) for about an hour to make sandwiches. If you’re unable to make sandwiches maybe you could provide a home baked treat; a cake, or cookies or brownies. Please leave them on the desk outside the office on a disposable plate (we won’t be able to return favorite plates to you).
For some 20 plus years this ministry has been dedicated to providing patrons of the NJ Synod’s New Visions Ministry – and, after that establishment closed, the folks at Cathedral Kitchen with a cold lunch on that Friday of the month.
Cathedral Kitchen (www.cathedralkitchen.org) is the largest emergency food provider in Camden, serving more than 100,000 meals yearly. Each weekday from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Cathedral Kitchen provides nutritious meals to food insecure residents of Camden and the surrounding communities. As well, it provides meals for local after-school programs, groceries for low-income senior centers and donated food to area pantries and churches.
