The DEI Committee’s storytelling series resumes in August

The DEI Committee — Pat Covington and Barbara Duffy — would like to continue the storytelling by members of the congregation during coffee time in the Shockey Lounge.

Carmen’s Story
Carmen von Wrangell was the first to speak about her early life in the Dominican Republic — why she came to the U.S. and the influences of her family on her life. We are all products of our upbringing and may be more diverse than we realize.
Barbara’s Story — Coming in August
Barbara Duffy will be speaking about her life growing up on a farm in northwestern Ohio — the fourth generation living in that same location. In some ways, Carmen and Barbara are alike: both families had to adjust to a new culture — Carmen’s from the Caribbean and Barbara’s from Germany.
What a wonderful opportunity to enrich our lives by learning about one another’s individual traditions and influences. Hopefully, it will lead us to understand one another better and become more knowledgeable about our different ways of thinking.
