On October 21, 2019, the Call Committee met with Council, Bishop Tracie Bartholomew, and our Synod Representative, The Rev. Kimberly Vaughn. At that meeting the Saint Matthew’s Ministry Site Profile (MSP) and its relevance to the Call Committee were discussed. When discussion related to the Call Committee was finished; the Committee along with Rev. Vaughn met together. She presented various resource materials, then discussed the call process and our role in it.
Since that time, we had met weekly until the first week in December. We resumed meetings January 7. During this time, we have done the following:
- Reviewed and discussed Synod’s suggestions as to things to consider regarding a potential candidate for Saint Matthew
- Reviewed sample interview questions provided by Synod and ranked them according to their importance
- Generated our own questions specific to St. Matthew
- Did a presentation for Adult Forum on the Steps of the Call Process
- Discussed a list of questions supplied by Synod that a candidate might ask us
- Generated our own questions we felt a candidate may ask us
- Discussed potential answers to candidate’s questions and identified areas that needed research
- Preparing to present at Adult Forum on February 2, 2020
Rest assured that, like you, the committee is dedicated to finding the best possible candidate for Saint Matthew. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be working with such an insightful, caring, gifted, and committed group of people.
Continue to be patient, pray for the committee and the congregation, as we continue to prepare for selecting the best possible candidate for Saint Matthew. Refraining from asking us questions we can’t answer would be a great help, too. Trust me, as is our responsibility, our lips are sealed until we can joyfully share the news you are so ready to hear. Your patience is truly appreciated.
