Have you ever returned home after surgery, a hospital stay, a new baby… and your first word was “HELP!?” Over the years many of us have been in this situation and we’ve been so grateful for a neighbor or church member providing a nice hot dinner or a drive to the doctor’s appointment during their first days.
Saint Matthew is exploring a new ministry—CARE (Christians Always Ready to help Each other in times of need!). The purpose is to provide assistance following a hospital stay or other crisis situation. We are considering four areas of assistance:
• Providing dinner meals during the first week home. (3-4 meals)
• Providing transportation to doctor’s appointments
• Providing food shopping
• Providing social “talk” visits during the first days home. (under 30 mins)
