Welcome Back, Pastor Peggy & Kim: Ministry Transitions at Saint Matthew

Welcome Back, Pastor Peggy & Kim

Ministry transitions at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church

“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:19

Saint Matthew is in a season of transition, and God’s steady hand is in all of it. Council has affirmed Rev. Margaret “Peggy” Marks as our part-time Vice Pastor, Kim Bohley has returned to us as Interim Secretary, and Dave Rulon has moved to part-time as our Sexton, with a cleaning firm now helping care for our building on Fridays.

Three staffing changes to know about

Rev. Margaret 'Peggy' Marks, Vice Pastor at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church.

Rev. Peggy Marks — Vice Pastor

Pastor Peggy is serving part-time (20–25 hours per week) with a focus on worship planning, sermon prep, and pastoral care. She will co-chair the CLF Ministry Team with Heather Lerch.

Kim Bohley, Interim Secretary at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church.

Kim Bohley — Interim Secretary

Kim is our new Interim Secretary until we call a new pastor. Her role is 20 hours per week, with responsibilities coordinated by Mutual Ministry. Welcome back, Kim!

Dave Rulon, part-time Sexton at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church.

Dave Rulon — Part-Time Sexton

Dave is now serving in a part-time role. A cleaning firm has been hired to care for our building on Fridays. Thank you, Dave, for your faithful service.

A Minute in the Office

A note from Kim Bohley, Interim Secretary

Howdy All, Since Pastor Peggy chose her welcome-back theme song, “Back in the Saddle Again,” it’s only fitting that I do the same, with “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” by Bon Jovi. I thank you all for welcoming me back to St. Matthew. During the past five years, two big changes have shaped the way the office runs:

  • Remote/hybrid work due to Covid-19 permanently broke the traditional 5-day in-office model. Our new church office hours are Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; closed Fridays.
  • The AI Revolution (Artificial Intelligence) was non-existent five years ago. It’s approaching a widely integrated tool for businesses — and yes, even churches. Please note, this is the first Messenger produced by using AI tools… with more to come.

Blessings,
Kim Bohley

In her August “Summer Musings” column, Pastor Peggy reflects on what it means to live faithfully in a liminal space — the sacred threshold between the “no longer” and the “not yet.”
