BRIDGE OF PEACE

The Food Pantry has remained open weekly during COVID serving 100 families each week. SMLC and 100 other churches were invited to partner with Thrivent Financial Action Teams. A $250 Thrivent gift card was issued for volunteering at the drive-up food-drop off event held on 10/24 at Thrivent headquarters in Marlton. Over 1000 items were received at our BoP donation table. Cars lined up for over 2hrs. with people donating food to food pantries all over our area. Thank you to volunteers of SMLC and BoP for your hard work. In addition, BoP will receive a $500 donation from Thrivent.

Tuesday Youth Group (TYG) kicked-off this school year on Oct. 6. Due to COVID the TYG is being virtually on Facebook Live each week, just as their successful summer VBS. Instead of providing our usual monthly casserole dinner, SMLC provided Subway turkey and cheese hoagies with sprite, snack and cookies to 20 youths. They wore masks and remained distant marked by hula hoops on the church lawn. Young adults directed the hula hoop activity and aided Pastor Giselle teaching sign language for “Peace Be With You.” Everyone was so happy to be together for a brief time. Please check out BoP Facebook page the events are held live at 6pm each Tuesday and remain on Facebook page. SHARE these 20-30 minute bible study videos and watch with your children or grandchildren anytime. Please TAG the teacher’s assistant, a member of SMLC. Also more surprise assistants will be coming up. On behalf of Pastor Giselle and all at the Bridge, thank you all for your dedication to the mission here in Camden and faithful donations. We are blessed to be a blessing.

Christmas…We have cancelled our annual Christmas Skating Jesus Birthday Event. In lieu of the party, please donate Walmart gift cards in denominations of $10; we will be providing 2-3 cards per student the first Tuesday in December.
