A DEI Discussion: Sharing Our Stories

Celebrating Our Diversity

As we look forward to acknowledging America’s 250th birthday (also known as a semiquincentennial), we must recognize the many diverse groups who were and are essential in this celebration. This nation has its own political, personal, religious, and social conversations that spark ongoing discussions bridging the past, present, and future of the United States of America. Each area of discussion is directly coupled with the concept of diversity as we analyze our similarities and differences on a daily basis.

What to Share

It is our goal to share family traditions as part of our upcoming meet and greet gatherings. We encourage you to bring and share items that represent your family history, including:

  • Stories about grandma’s favorite meal or childhood games.
  • Family photo albums.
  • Unique family jewelry.
  • Precious garments.
  • Anything else that is near and dear to your heart.

Food for Thought

As you prepare to join us, please consider the following questions:

  • How does your past live in you?
  • How have your ancestors influenced your life?
